Control the Past. Save the Future.
Why it is hard sci-fi
A 2077 Vancouver under a corporate-controlled North America. A Protector and a group of executed convicts arrive in 2012 after a botched transit. The show commits to a single-timeline rule with constructive interference. The Protector treats the past as her field assignment and the convicts treat it as their political opportunity. The technology baseline is consistent. CMR-implanted soldiers, kinetic suits, smart-fabric, and a corporate police state.
Science inside it
Cortical implant communications, networked tactical visualisation, kinetic-augmented body armour, and a working closed-time-curve with branch-collapse rules. The show also engages with a corporate-controlled judiciary as the political model that produces the future, which is one of the more rigorous TV portrayals of a privatised state.
